WRITING AND PANELS
Writings & Selected Publications
2020–Ongoing
For Júlia Rúbies Subirós, language is an elastic material that weaves continuously through every layer of her artistic ecosystem. Rather than separating her writing into isolated categories, she approaches text, speech, and voice as a shifting medium, allowing her practice to move fluidly between the physical studio, the workshop environment, and the published page.
While this practice extends across performances, workshops, and unpublished materials, the two works cited below represent her officially published writing.
Selected Publications & Critical Outputs
Flocking With,Dark Red at the Kolumba Museum, Cologne (Published by Rosas, 2020)
An extensive critical essay evaluating Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s site-specific research project Dark Red. Drumming: Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Rosas, Steve Reich (Co-authored with Noé Soulier and Tessa Hall; Published by Fonds Mercator, 2020)
A collaborative literary contribution tracking the legacy, geometric space utilization, and mathematical complexity of De Keersmaeker’s landmark 1998 choreography, Drumming, set to the percussion masterpieces of minimalist composer Steve Reich.
